CHAH "My Radio 580" Edmonton, AB

CHAH "My Radio 580" Edmonton, AB sits in the tail of Canada's 259 entries. The tail is the part of a directory that goes missing first, and it is the part worth keeping: the head of every country's list is the same handful of national broadcasters, and everything that makes a dial local is behind them.

This is a Chinese station in a country whose directory presence is led by English. Five entries in Canada broadcast in Chinese, which is a small group and a coherent one, and browsing it is a different experience from browsing the country.

Chinese radio in this directory sits largely in China, Taiwan and Hong Kong SAR China, with 1,229 stations on the shelf in total. This page's station is one of the entries that make the shelf wider than any single country.

CHAH "My Radio 580" Edmonton, AB shares its leading tag, multicultural, with one other Canada entry. Across every country the directory has 2 stations leading with it, so the rail below is mostly a trip abroad.

The stream is 68 kbps where Canada's median is 96. Below the country's middle, which usually points at an older encoder or a deliberate choice to stay light, and matters far more for music than for talk.
