News radio is the station's own leading tag and no other entry in Canada uses it that way. Worth reading as self-description: the directory takes tags as broadcasters type them and does not reconcile them.
CKWX "News 1130" Vancouver, BC streams at 48 kbps against Canada's median of 96, which is less than half the local norm. On a dial where 46% of stations reach 128 kbps, a rate this low stands out, and it usually means either a speech station that never needed more or an encoder that has not been touched in years.
CKWX "News 1130" Vancouver, BC publishes an HLS stream. That is a modern and perfectly good way to broadcast, and it is also why the button on this page may not start it: HLS needs a player that can read a playlist and fetch segments, which a browser audio tag does not do on its own.
The stream address on this entry points at rogers-hls.leanstream.co, which is where 12 other stations in Canada are served from as well. Platforms of that size carry the long tail of a country's dial, and they are the reason a listing can look broken when it is one host having a quiet hour.

CKWX "News 1130" Vancouver, BC is one of 817 playable stations the catalogue lists in Canada, and one of the smaller number that say where in the country they transmit from.
These are counts of what people did inside the public radio-browser catalogue and the apps that read it, over the whole life of the entry. They are not our own figures and they are not an audience measurement: most entries in this catalogue sit under five all-time plays, so a small number here means the catalogue has little to say about this station rather than that nobody listens to it.
Broadcast by CKWX "News 1130" Vancouver, BC. Stream served directly by the broadcaster. Their own site is at www.citynews1130.com.
