Diverse FM

Out of 565 entries in India, this one ranks 8. The upper quarter of a national list is an interesting place to be: well known enough to have accumulated opens, not so well known that it is the station everybody already had.

Diverse FM carries 203 recorded opens in the public directory, which puts it among the small group of streams that directory clients open constantly. Counts at this level are rare: the great majority of the 14,425 stations with pages here are in single or double figures.

Broadcasting in Hindi, alongside most of India's other entries. The country page breaks the remaining five languages out with counts, which is usually a quicker read of who lives somewhere than any summary.

The format here is AAC+, against a listing for India overwhelmingly made of MP3. Both play in a browser; the difference shows up in how much quality survives at a given bitrate, where AAC has the advantage at lower rates.

The stream is served from carol.epichosts.co.uk:8570, which no other entry in India uses in this snapshot. Nothing else in the listing shares its fate: if this address stops answering it is this broadcaster's own outage, and if it plays, it plays.
