Virgin Radio Italy

Out of 400 entries in Italy, this one ranks 21. The upper quarter of a national list is an interesting place to be: well known enough to have accumulated opens, not so well known that it is the station everybody already had.

The directory counts 34 opens against this stream. That is well above Italy's median and it is the reason the station sits where it does on the country list, since the ordering is the count and nothing else.

Alternative rock covers 6 of Italy's entries. Tags on this site are always the broadcaster's own first tag and never a second one, because a station tagged five ways would otherwise appear on five shelves and turn each of them into a tag cloud.

Worldwide it ranks 3 among 61 alternative rock entries, which is worth roughly as much as the count behind it and no more.

The stream address on this entry points at icy.unitedradio.it, which is where 32 other stations in Italy are served from as well. Platforms of that size carry the long tail of a country's dial, and they are the reason a listing can look broken when it is one host having a quiet hour.
