ВИА СССР

Out of 471 entries in Russia, this one ranks 94. The upper quarter of a national list is an interesting place to be: well known enough to have accumulated opens, not so well known that it is the station everybody already had.

Among 471 stations in Russia here, this is the only one that puts советская эстрада first. The советская эстрада rail below therefore leaves the country entirely, which is the more interesting direction to travel from a page like this.

The gap here is large: 64 kbps where Russia's stations typically run 128. Rates at this level were designed for dial-up and for mobile data that was billed by the megabyte, and plenty of stations simply never changed the setting.

Encoded as AAC+, one of the three formats Russia's stations use. The country page breaks all of them out with counts.

Its audio comes from pub0101.101.ru. Six other stations in Russia stream from the same host, which is a smaller sharing than the big platforms and often means the same people run them all.

The broadcaster publishes at 101.ru, on Russia's own country domain. A national domain is a small piece of evidence that the station is what the directory says it is, since these are the harder ones to register from somewhere else.
