Gold FM

Out of 39 entries in Sri Lanka, this one ranks 8. The upper quarter of a national list is an interesting place to be: well known enough to have accumulated opens, not so well known that it is the station everybody already had.

Gold FM broadcasts in English from Sri Lanka, one of four stations there that do. The country's dial is mostly Sinhala, so these four entries are a minority language cluster inside a national listing rather than the listing itself.

The English shelf on this site collects every station in the language regardless of where it transmits from, and the directory's English entries are concentrated in United States, United Arab Emirates and United Kingdom. Reading the shelf next to this page is the quickest way to see how far the language's dial actually reaches.

The stream is 96 kbps where Sri Lanka's median is 128. Below the country's middle, which usually points at an older encoder or a deliberate choice to stay light, and matters far more for music than for talk.

The stream is served from radio.lotustechnologieslk.net:2020, an address three other entries in Sri Lanka use as well. A small shared host is usually a group of stations under one owner or one technical provider rather than a platform.
