Radio XL 1296

Position 191 of 466 puts this station in the middle of the United Kingdom's directory presence. The middle is worth browsing precisely because the ordering has stopped sorting by fame and has not yet stopped sorting at all.

This is a Hindi station in a country whose directory presence is led by English. Six entries in the United Kingdom broadcast in Hindi, which is a small group and a coherent one, and browsing it is a different experience from browsing the country.

The Hindi shelf on this site collects every station in the language regardless of where it transmits from, and the directory's Hindi entries are concentrated in India, Canada and United Arab Emirates. Reading the shelf next to this page is the quickest way to see how far the language's dial actually reaches.

The stream is served from xlradio.co.uk:8000, which no other entry in the United Kingdom uses in this snapshot. Nothing else in the listing shares its fate: if this address stops answering it is this broadcaster's own outage, and if it plays, it plays.

Their site is xlradio.co.uk:8000, on the .uk:8000 domain. The newer top level domains carry no location information at all, so nothing about the address confirms or contradicts what the directory records.
