One product, one directory, one design system. On a phone it is the same deck and the same stations, drawn natively, with the two things a phone does better than a browser: radio that keeps playing in your pocket, and radio in the car.
One product, more than one screen
World Radio is a radio player, not a browser add-on that happens to play audio. The directory, the shelf logic, the identity colours and the rules about what the spectrum wall is allowed to claim all belong to the product. A platform is a way in, rather than a different thing.
That is not a description written after the fact. The deck was specified as a design system rather than as a stylesheet, with a native build in mind from its first page: the colour tokens, the raised and inset depth pair, the row heights and the tile hash that gives a station its colour were all written to carry across intact.
Radio in your pocket
Background audio is what a phone radio is for. It keeps playing with the screen off and sits on the lock screen with the controls a phone already knows how to draw.
The drive
CarPlay, browsing and playing from the car screen. The drive is where people actually listen to the radio, and it is the reason a phone version of this product is worth building at all.
The same deck
The chassis, the identity tiles, the spectrum wall and the four finishes, drawn natively rather than wrapped as a web view. A station is the same colour on a phone as it is in a browser, because both derive it from the same hash of the same identifier.
What the spectrum wall is allowed to say
The same rule holds on every screen. The wall is a meter driven by the audio through a log spaced analyser, and when a stream is served in a way that cannot be analysed it runs a slow light show and the lamp softens to a pulse, instead of inventing motion. A meter that moves when it cannot hear anything is decoration pretending to be an instrument, and it is the one thing this product will not ship.
Why there are no screenshots here
Every image on this site is an unretouched capture of a build that runs. A rendered mockup of a phone screen would be the only invented pixel on the whole property, so there is not one. The captures that appear here will be the real ones.
