Radio stations in China

Roughly half of China's directory presence is out of a browser's reach: 1,213 of 2,052 entries are playable, which is 59%. A gap this size is almost always the http one. Older listings were registered before browsers began refusing mixed content, and nobody has been back to update the address.

The bitrate picture here is split rather than good or bad. The median sits at 128 kbps, which sounds healthy, and yet only 9% of China's playable stations reach 128 kbps: a minority of high rate streams is pulling the middle up while most of the listing sits below it. Read the per station figures rather than the median on this dial.

Directory opens in China are spread thinly and evenly, which makes the ranking below weak by construction. It is published as it is rather than dressed up, and the honest way to use it is as a list rather than as a chart.
