NDR Schlager

One word in the name is ordinary German rather than branding: Schlager is schlager. Worth a line for anyone reading a list of stations in a language they do not have.

NDR Schlager is at position 223 of the 1,409 stations in Germany with pages here, inside the top quarter of the national listing. That is high enough to be reached by browsing rather than by searching, which is how most of these pages are actually found.

The station's language is German, the commonest of the six the directory records for Germany. Language is one of the two axes this site indexes on, and the German shelf collects these stations across every country that carries them.

The audio comes from icecast.ndr.de, and 15 other stations in Germany are served from the same address. That is a streaming platform carrying many broadcasters rather than a station running its own server, which is worth knowing for a practical reason: when a platform has a bad night, a whole block of Germany's listing stops answering at once and nothing is wrong with any of the stations in it.
