Radio Gold

At position 1291 of 1,409, this is one of the stations in Germany that almost nobody arrives at by browsing. That is the case for having a page at all. A station reachable only by knowing its name is a station most directories lose.

With one recorded open, Radio Gold sits in the part of the directory where the numbers stop discriminating. The station's position in Germany's list should be read as approximate for exactly that reason.

The directory records no language for Radio Gold. That gap is common and it is upstream of this site: broadcasters fill the field or they do not, and roughly a third of the stations with pages here have left it empty. It means the station appears on its country hub and not on any language shelf, which is the one place the omission costs it.

At 192 kbps the stream is on the better side of Germany's dial, where the median is 128 kbps. Not dramatically so, and bitrate is only one of several things that decide whether a stream sounds good, but it is the one the directory records.

The stream is served from radiogold-live.cast.addradio.de, which no other entry in Germany uses in this snapshot. Nothing else in the listing shares its fate: if this address stops answering it is this broadcaster's own outage, and if it plays, it plays.
