a9radionewhits

a9radionewhits sits in the tail of India's 565 entries. The tail is the part of a directory that goes missing first, and it is the part worth keeping: the head of every country's list is the same handful of national broadcasters, and everything that makes a dial local is behind them.

With three recorded opens, a9radionewhits sits in the part of the directory where the numbers stop discriminating. The station's position in India's list should be read as approximate for exactly that reason.

Broadcasting in Tamil from India, alongside 160 other stations there doing the same. Hindi is the country's commonest broadcast language in this directory, so this is the second shelf of a bilingual listing.

The shelf for the language holds 169 stations, led by Canada. A station like this one broadcasting from India is what stops that shelf from being a second copy of one country's hub.

The stream runs at 128 kbps, level with India's median. Bitrate stops being interesting once a station is at the local norm, and the useful question moves on to whether the stream stays up, which no snapshot can answer.

The stream is served from a9newhits-a9media.radioca.st, which no other entry in India uses in this snapshot. Nothing else in the listing shares its fate: if this address stops answering it is this broadcaster's own outage, and if it plays, it plays.
