Arni City FM

At position 368 of 565, this is one of the stations in India that almost nobody arrives at by browsing. That is the case for having a page at all. A station reachable only by knowing its name is a station most directories lose.

Arni City FM broadcasts in Tamil from India. That is a minority language on the national dial, where Hindi leads, but not a small one: 161 stations in India in the directory carry Tamil, which is a substantial second listing inside the first.

The Tamil shelf on this site collects every station in the language regardless of where it transmits from, and the directory's Tamil entries are concentrated in Canada, Singapore and Sri Lanka. Reading the shelf next to this page is the quickest way to see how far the language's dial actually reaches.

Arni City FM streams at 64 kbps against India's median of 128, which is less than half the local norm. On a dial where 61% of stations reach 128 kbps, a rate this low stands out, and it usually means either a speech station that never needed more or an encoder that has not been touched in years.

Its audio comes from usa9.fastcast4u.com. One other station in India streams from the same host, which is a smaller sharing than the big platforms and often means the same people run them all.
