Aci Radio

Aci Radio sits in the tail of Italy's 400 entries. The tail is the part of a directory that goes missing first, and it is the part worth keeping: the head of every country's list is the same handful of national broadcasters, and everything that makes a dial local is behind them.

With one recorded open, Aci Radio sits in the part of the directory where the numbers stop discriminating. The station's position in Italy's list should be read as approximate for exactly that reason.

Aci Radio has no language recorded in the directory. We do not infer one. Guessing from the country would put every station in Italy on the same shelf regardless of what it broadcasts, which is exactly the kind of filled-in blank that makes a directory untrustworthy.

At 192 kbps the stream is on the better side of Italy's dial, where the median is 128 kbps. Not dramatically so, and bitrate is only one of several things that decide whether a stream sounds good, but it is the one the directory records.

Its audio comes straight from nr7.newradio.it:18003, an address unique to this entry in Italy's listing. That is the simplest case there is, and it is the one where pressing play tells you the whole truth about whether the station is on air.
