Retesport (Italia)

Retesport (Italia) is at position 47 of the 400 stations in Italy with pages here, inside the top quarter of the national listing. That is high enough to be reached by browsing rather than by searching, which is how most of these pages are actually found.

The talk corner of Italy's dial is two stations deep in this snapshot. Small clusters like that are usually the most rewarding thing on a country page, because they are what the national broadcasters at the top of the list are not.

The gap here is large: 48 kbps where Italy's stations typically run 128. Rates at this level were designed for dial-up and for mobile data that was billed by the megabyte, and plenty of stations simply never changed the setting.

Where Italy's stations mostly use MP3, this one uses AAC+. Worth a line only because it is a difference, and because the country page's format breakdown is one of the quicker ways to see which providers a national dial runs on.

The stream is served from icecast.ithost.it, an address one other entry in Italy uses as well. A small shared host is usually a group of stations under one owner or one technical provider rather than a platform.
