Catalunya Radio

Catalunya Radio ranks 31 among 487 stations in Spain. High enough that the country hub carries it in its own tables, and far enough from the head that the neighbours below are a genuinely different set of stations from the famous ones.

The directory counts 25 opens against this stream. That is well above Spain's median and it is the reason the station sits where it does on the country list, since the ordering is the count and nothing else.

Catalunya Radio shares its leading tag, news talk, with one other Spain entry. Across every country the directory has 30 stations leading with it, so the rail below is mostly a trip abroad.

Worldwide it ranks 3 among 30 news talk entries, which is worth roughly as much as the count behind it and no more.

The gap here is large: 56 kbps where Spain's stations typically run 128. Rates at this level were designed for dial-up and for mobile data that was billed by the megabyte, and plenty of stations simply never changed the setting.

Its audio comes from shoutcast.ccma.cat. Three other stations in Spain stream from the same host, which is a smaller sharing than the big platforms and often means the same people run them all.
