Boards of Canada 24/7 Radio

Among the 1,481 stations in the United States with pages, Boards of Canada 24/7 Radio is around the halfway mark. Anything in this stretch is reachable from the country's numbered pages rather than from its front table, which is why those pages exist.

The open count against Boards of Canada 24/7 Radio is three, which is enough to know the stream has been played through the directory and not enough to compare it with anything. Small counts are the normal case out here, and a ranking built from them separates stations by luck as much as by interest.

Alternative covers 27 of the United States' entries. Tags on this site are always the broadcaster's own first tag and never a second one, because a station tagged five ways would otherwise appear on five shelves and turn each of them into a tag cloud.

At 256 kbps, Boards of Canada 24/7 Radio streams at more than double the United States' median of 128 kbps. That is a deliberate choice by whoever runs it: bandwidth is the recurring cost of an internet station, and a rate this far above the local norm is money spent on sounding better than the dial around it.

The stream is served from radio.geogaddi.org, which no other entry in the United States uses in this snapshot. Nothing else in the listing shares its fate: if this address stops answering it is this broadcaster's own outage, and if it plays, it plays.
