SomaFM Sonic Universe (128k MP3)

SomaFM Sonic Universe (128k MP3) is one of two entries in the United States whose names are the same but for a number, and this one's number is three. A broadcaster numbering its streams like that is separating feeds, not stations, so read the number as the part that matters.

SomaFM Sonic Universe (128k MP3) sits at 583 of 1,481 in the United States' listing, in the body of the list rather than at either end. This is where most of a national dial actually lives, and it is the part a country hub's first fifty rows never reach.

With three recorded opens, SomaFM Sonic Universe (128k MP3) sits in the part of the directory where the numbers stop discriminating. The station's position in the United States' list should be read as approximate for exactly that reason.

6 stations in the United States lead with avant-garde and SomaFM Sonic Universe (128k MP3) is one of them, though the tag does not make the country's headline list. Across the whole directory 8 stations use it first, so the rail below runs well past United States.

The stream address on this entry points at ice5.somafm.com, which is where 31 other stations in the United States are served from as well. Platforms of that size carry the long tail of a country's dial, and they are the reason a listing can look broken when it is one host having a quiet hour.
