SomaFM Drone Zone (64k AAC)

The directory lists three streams in the United States under this name, told apart by a number alone. This page is number sixty-four. Nothing here is taken from the other two.

Among the 1,481 stations in the United States with pages, SomaFM Drone Zone (64k AAC) is around the halfway mark. Anything in this stretch is reachable from the country's numbered pages rather than from its front table, which is why those pages exist.

With two recorded opens, SomaFM Drone Zone (64k AAC) sits in the part of the directory where the numbers stop discriminating. The station's position in the United States' list should be read as approximate for exactly that reason.

The station's leading tag is ambient, shared with 52 other entries in the United States. It is a well populated tag here without being one of the country's defining ones, which is a common and unremarkable place for a station to sit.

At 64 kbps this is one of the lowest rate streams on the United States' dial, whose median is 128 kbps. It will hold a connection almost anywhere, which is the tradeoff being made.

37 of the United States' entries are served from ice6.somafm.com, this one among them. A shared host means a shared fate. If this stream is silent, the fastest check is not this station's own site but whether its neighbours on the same platform are playing.
