SomaFM Secret Agent (64k AAC)

SomaFM Secret Agent (64k AAC) is one of two entries in the United States whose names are the same but for a number, and this one's number is sixty-four. A broadcaster numbering its streams like that is separating feeds, not stations, so read the number as the part that matters.

This is one of the quieter entries in the United States' listing, at 1084 of 1,481. Stations at this depth are usually community, religious or single genre broadcasters rather than national networks, and the country's numbered pages are the only route to them.

The open count against SomaFM Secret Agent (64k AAC) is one, which is enough to know the stream has been played through the directory and not enough to compare it with anything. Small counts are the normal case out here, and a ranking built from them separates stations by luck as much as by interest.

The gap here is large: 64 kbps where the United States' stations typically run 128. Rates at this level were designed for dial-up and for mobile data that was billed by the megabyte, and plenty of stations simply never changed the setting.

37 of the United States' entries are served from ice6.somafm.com, this one among them. A shared host means a shared fate. If this stream is silent, the fastest check is not this station's own site but whether its neighbours on the same platform are playing.
